WHAT'S THE FREQUENCY GREGORY?

Gregory Whalen, a school board member demonstrated just how out of touch with reality he really is when he was quoted in the Cornwall Local of March 30 th 2007 as saying “But they really are [he's referring to sports here] extra curricular, outside the eight-to-four school day.” The part of this quote that really demonstrates just how out of touch with reality Mr. Whalen really is, is the part of the quote where he says “….outside the eight-to-four school day.” Mr. Whalen is either completely disingenuous, an outright fool, or is drowning in KOOL AID if he really believes that any school day consists of 8 hours. Which of our schools Mr. Whalen has an “…eight to four school day”?

Here is a reality check Mr. Whalen - each of our 3 elementary schools, COH, Willow Avenue and Lee Road , their school day is 8:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m.. Do the math man, that's 6 and ½ hours Mr. Whalen, not eight. Our Junior High school, (that's the one that the Federal Government says is not meeting Federal Minimum standards and is ordering our school district to hire an additional 3 teachers) their school day is 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. Again Mr. Whalen, that is a 6 and ½ hour school day not eight. How about our high school? (that's the one where the top 20% of the graduating class get accepted mostly at 2 nd and 3 rd tier colleges, and only 62% of the graduating class go on to 4 year colleges) Their hours Mr. Whalen are 8:05 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. Again, do the math Mr. Whalen, this is a 6 and ½ hour day, not eight.

Our position at CornwallTaxpayersUnited is that to replace any member of the Board with anyone or anything else, including a dead skunk, would be an upgrade. Therefore a good rule of thumb is to vote for anybody but the incumbent. And if there is no one running against an incumbent, than write in “dead skunk”.
