A PAGE OUT OF THE CORORATE PLAYBOOK!

According to the Cornwall Local of March 16, 2007 “The School district administration is looking this year to bring Superintendents Tim Rehm's pay in line with what superintendents around Orange County are making, and to that end, they've included in the proposed 2007-2008 budget an almost $10,000 increase in his salary.” (see “a $10,000 raise for superintendant”) We at CornwallTaxpayersUnited, find it strange that the school board and school district administration are all too eager to compare themselves with other school districts when it comes to salaries, but completely disregard a similar comparison when it comes to academic performance.

According to the March 2, 2007 issue of the Cornwall Local, in an article titled “District proposes $50.9 million for 07-08, “Three full time teaching position would be added, positions that Superintendent Tim Rehm told the Board they were mandated to add under the No Child Left Behind (because students in the middle school didn't show the necessary improvement.)” Let's see if I understand this right. Our superintendent is doing the kind of job that the Federal Government says is failing to achieve minimum standards and thereby mandates that we hire 3 additional teachers, and for this bang up job, we are going to bump up the Superintedants salary by $10,000?

Is it any wonder that so many Taxpayers in Cornwall see the current system as corrupt and the School Board as a bunch of Frauds?
